LeBron James makes another move to further expand his global brand. Sources say that he is now signed with talent agency powerhouse William Morris Endeavor (WME). He amicably ended his relationship with CAA to sign with WME. Per The Hollywood Reporter, CAA still has some projects in the works from their relationship with LeBron:
Sources say the split with CAA, finalized earlier this week, was amicable. And James has multiple CAA-packaged entertainment projects already in the works. There’s the six-episode Starz seriesSurvivor‘s Remorse, which is penned by actor-writer Mike O’Malley and begins production this spring in Atlanta. And the big-screen feature Ballers with Kevin Hart for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment. Hart (who is a diminutive 5-foot-3) is writing the screenplay for the comedy in which he’ll star as James’ (who is 6-foot-8) brother, who has something of an inferiority complex when it comes to on-the-court skills.
WME will be the agency of record for all acting and entertainment projects for James.
I love that LeBron is expanding his brand beyond the court while he’s still playing. He seems to get the business of sports and making the right moves in the areas that matter.
