When we heard that Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade would not be playing for the Olympic team in London, we wer not surprised. In fact, we were a bit sympathetic with these athletes who had been working hard all season. When we heard newly drafted rookie Anthony Davis wouldn't be making the team due to an injury, we thought, "WTH"!
Anthony Davis is young, energetic and the number one pick in the recent NBA draft of the New Orleans Hornets. According to Yahoo! Sports, Davis suffered a severely sprained ankle in a workout Saturday that will cause him to miss the Olympics. Davis had been invited with several players to work out for Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski, but the injury has likely left the Hornets – and Davis – not wanting to risk it sources said.
I agree with that decision. Too much money was spent to get him and if he's already getting injured this early, there could be some questions aboutt the Hornets' latest investment.
If this starts a pattern, the real question may be, 'has the check cleared'?
