Is that Beyonce? Whoa– is that Michael Jackson?!? That can’t be RUN DMC! Bob Dylan–Really? Well, yes and no. For their Music Issue ESPN the Magazine celebrates the marriage and relationship between sports and musicians by presenting athletes in iconic album covers. Here’s what ESPN says about this issue:

“Jay-Z and LeBron are providing a new blueprint for ruling both musicians and athletes; sports keeps turning up the volume of its hip-hop soundtrack; Josh Freeman, Alex Morgan and more artists and athletes give us playlists that are totally off the wall.”

Sports and music have been intertwined for years and ESPN spans the music genre with retakes of RUN DMC, Michael Jackson, Nirvana and Katy Perry, to name a few. Check the video clips and pics of these athletes-turned-musicians and you decide who’s remake is the best.

Who is that? It’s Rick James!

While I don’t agree that all these album covers classify as “iconic” I do think ESPN the Magazine did  a great job of trying to stay true to the original album covers.
