Blake Griffin injures knee during Team USA practice

Thursday, July 12th, 2012

And we have another injury. This time it’s Blake Griffin.

Griffin injured his left knee during an Olympic team scrimmage. He is on his way back to Los Angeles to be examined by doctors. It’s is not clear the extent of his injury, but it seems he may not be returning to London to get the gold. In the meantime, Team USA officials have asked rookie forward Anthony Davis to play in an exhibition against the Dominican Republic, but they are not sure if Davis will get a permanent spot on the team until they get final word on Griffin’s condition.

I hope Blake Griffin’s injury is not serious, and I can understand why the team flew him back so fast. Griffin just signed  a five-year, $95 million contract extension. Damn the gold; the Clippers are protecting their investment!
