Browns trade Trent Richardson to the Colts; Have they given up on the season?

It's only then end of week two of the NFL season and the Cleveland Browns, who are 0-2 have made a move that makes us wonder about what they're really doing in the front office. Today the Browns have traded Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a first round pick in the draft next year. Richardson was the third pick of the 2012 draft and they traded him for a first-round pick in 2014. Huh?? It's unlikely that the Colts will place high in the draft next year so this still doesn't make sense. Richardson hasn't had a stellar year but he was injured most of last year. The Colts can definitely use him and based on the tweet by Colts ower Jiim Irsay, they are very happy:

This day of MONSTER TRADE,The Tidal Wave Of Deal making...Shocks the system of "..Didn't see THIS ONE COMING!!!!!!" Grig's Rollin' Dice!

The Browns will probably get a high pick in the draft next season, but still--this trade doesn't seem to make sense. Are they already giving up on this season?
