Colts owner Jim Irsay gets by with a misdemeanor charge; Prosecutors won’t file felony charges
Unbelievable! (But not really). In another glaring example of the hypocrisy in sports as it relates to the treatment towards players vs. owners, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay avoids felony charges. In fact, prosecutors will only charge Irsay with a misdemeanor for operating a vehicle under the influence.
His attorney was so grateful, he had to thank the prosecutor’s office:
“We want to thank the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office for its professionalism in its investigation regarding Mr. Irsay and for devoting the necessary care and attention to determine the facts in this matter did not warrant the filing of felony charges relative to Mr. Irsay’s prescription medications,” the statement read, via Stephen Holder of theIndianapolis Star. “Mr. Irsay will deal with the remaining misdemeanor charges through the judicial process.”
The question now remains with how the NFL will handle Irsay. In the past, players have been suspended even without criminal charges.
I wonder if the same heavy hand of justice will come down on Irsay.
