Danica Patrick becomes first woman to win the pole for Daytona 500

Girl power indeed! Danica Patrick takes the pole for NASCAR's Daytona 500 and becomes the first woman to do so! She had amazing times during her practice run and was favored to take the pole. She did and managed the biggest accomplishment of her four year NASCAR career. According to SI.com: It was the biggest achievement of her four-year NASCAR career.

"Patrick went out eighth in the qualifying session Sunday and covered the 2 1/2-mile superspeedway in 45.817 seconds, averaging 196.434 mph.

She waited about two hours as 37 fellow drivers tried to take her spot. Only four-time Cup champion Jeff Gordon even came close to knocking her off."

That means that Jeff Gordon gets the other spot in the lineup. The rest of the cars will get their qualifying positions in Thursday's test run and make ready for "The Great American Race".

This year, it's lead by a woman!
