October is national breast cancer awareness month, and all over the sports world athletes and leagues will honor, pay tribute and help raise awareness. Danica Patrick is joining that group. Throughout the entire month of October, her usually green GoDaddy car will be pink to help raise awareness. She revealed the car on Tuesday along with Chevrolet, which showcased a pink Camaro SS official pace car.
According to USA Today Sports, every lap with the pace car raises money for breast cancer research:
Chevrolet will donate $200 to the American Cancer Society for every lap the pace car leads under caution at Talladega Superspeedway and Martinsville Speedway. It also will donate based on last month’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
GoDaddy is also participating and will donate $50,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
I think it’s great that female athletes, like Danica Patrick are joining the fight against breast cancer. Her national stage can be beneficial to influence others to get mammograms and ultimately save lives.
