David Beckham announces his retirement

Say it ain’t so! One of the sexiest players in soccer has announced his retirement. That’s right, Jersey Girl Sports hottie David Beckham is leaving the soccer game.

“if you had told me as a young boy I would have played for and won trophies with my boyhood club Manchester United, proudly captained and played for my country over 100 times and lined up for some of the biggest clubs in the world, I would have told you it was a fantasy,” Beckham said in a statement.

The 38-year-old soccer star is perhaps the most celebrated, endorsed and the one with the most celebrity. He’s married to British pop star Victoria Beckham, also known as “Posh Spice” of the Spice Girls. He’s won soccer league titles in four countries, and even though his career has had it’s ups and downs, he’s still considered one of the best in the game. He was also active off the field.  He helped to bring the 2012 Olympics to London, was active in supporting UNICEF, and he had a host of endorsements.

Whatever turn his life takes after this is anybody’s guess, but I think he can look back over his soccer career and be proud of a job well done.
