Dennis Rodman says his stints in rehab are about self evaluation; “I didn’t go to rehab for drinking”
(AP) ~Dennis Rodman has checked into an alcohol rehab center. That’s not news. He also doesn’t plan on stopping drinking. That’s not really news either. However, in his recent check-in into an alcohol rehab center, Rodman clarified his previous “breakdown” after returning from Korea.
“I needed to decompress from all the things I was going through,” Rodman said Friday by phone from Miami. “I was trying to get this game going and get everything going in North Korea.
“It was a lot.”
A lot of foolishness! Rodman did not admit that his drinking in North Korea added to the stressful nature of the trip which went from bad to worse after his rant during an interview on CNN. Of course he’ll never admit he’s an alcoholic, and says his returns into rehab, about every few months, are more like personal check-ins–not about drinking.
I don’t need to drink,” he said. “I don’t need to do anything. I went to rehab just to sort things out. That’s it.”
“I’m not an alcoholic. An alcoholic drinks seven days a week. I don’t drink seven days a week. When I drink, I don’t hurt nobody, I don’t have no DUIs, nothing like that.”
“I didn’t go to rehab for drinking. There aren’t too many people who quit drinking going to rehab. Not too many people can do that.”
That may be true, but there are many people who DO quit drinking from going to rehab. The first step being not getting to the rehab, but admitting you have a problem in the first place.
