Derek Jeter announces he will retire after 2014; “I want the ability to…finally have a summer vacation”

The end. This time comes for all professional athletes. At some point, they have to come to terms with the end of their professional careers. For Derek Jeter, that time will come after the 2014 season. He posted a heart-felt letter on his Facebook page.  Of course the sports world is reeling from the announcement. Jeter is a beloved player in MLB and among many sports fans.  So what will Jeter do after he retires? Who knows. This is what he said in his letter:
Now it is time for the next chapter. I have new dreams and inspirations, and I want new challenges. There are many things I want to do in business and philanthropic work, in addition to focusing more on my personal life and starting a family of my own. And I want the ability to move at my own pace, see the world and finally have a summer vacation.
We wish Jeter the best and we will be watching him this season. I'm sure he'll go out in style.  Your Jersey Girlfriend, ~Angela Davis
