The Los Angeles Clippers‘ announced Monday that in efforts of restructuring that head coach, Doc Rivers will be the team’s new President of Basketball Operations, as well as keeping the head coaching position. In addition, Kevin Eastman, who served as an assistant coach with the Clippers last season and has been on the sidelines as an assistant with Rivers for nine years, moves into the role of Vice President of Basketball Operations and will report to Rivers.

“I am extremely excited to work closely with Kevin, Dave and Gary in their new roles as we continue to move the culture of the Clippers forward. Our goals are not only to become a championship team, but a championship organization as well. I feel with the new structure of the Basketball Operations Department, we have taken a positive step in that direction,” says Rivers.

While the ownership of the team is still in limbo, this is a good decision on behalf of the team. Rivers is highly respected and believes in doing what’s right for his players. This is the first time I can say that the Clippers have done something right.
