(AP) Floyd Mayweather Jr.was sentenced to 90 days in jail today after pleading guilty to reduced battery domestic violence and harassment charges. As a part of the plea deal Mayweather avoids a trial on felony allegations that he hit his ex-girlfriend and threatened two of their children during an argument at her home in September 2010.
Mayweather will also have to pay a $2,500 fine and complete 100 hours of community service.
Prosecutor Lisa Luzaich told the judge Mayweather has been in trouble before and hasn't been punished.
Seems like the judge agreed. The good news is that Mayweather won't have to report to jail until January 6th, so he gets to spend Christmas with his children and enjoy the New Year celebration--if he so chooses.
And since he won't be getting released until sometime early April, I guess that May fight against Pacquaio is also out of the question.
