Friday’s Style Star…Florence Griffith-Joyner
Happy Friday Jersey Girls, this week’s style star is a track legend, Flo-Jo a.k.a Florence Griffith-Joyner. Now I know some of you are thinking, why in the world is she even a thought right now, but just bare with me. With the 2012 Olympic Games in London right around the corner why not have a little tribute.
Florence Delorez Griffith-Joyner (December 21, 1959 – September 21, 1998), also known as Flo-Jo, was an American track and field athlete. She is considered the “fastest woman of all time” based on the fact that she still holds the world record for both the 100 meters and 200 meters, both set in 1988 and never seriously challenged. She died of epilepsy in 1998 at the age of 38. I don’t know any little girl that didn’t love Flo-Jo; I still remember the episode of television sitcom, 227 that she appeared on! In addition to being a Goddess on the track I believe she was way before for time in fashion, plus she had the best looking hair in the game.
I don’t know if it was cool or freaky, but you can’t forget about her nails. She set a style and trend that is still going on today.
The costumes she ran in were a thing of there own, really! She had a signature style and no one has matched her style yet. I mean who really is thinking that out of the box these days.
So as you’re watching the track and field competition not in their early stages and then in a few weeks during the games remember a true legend…
Enjoy your weekend!
