From bad to worse: Arrest warrant issued for Patriots’ Aaron Hernandez
According to WBZ NewsRadio 1030 a source close to the investigation says that an arrest warrant has been issued for New England Patriots’ tight end Aaron Hernandez. He’s expected to be charged with obstruction of justice in the murder investigation of his friend, Odin Lloyd, whose body was found Monday dumped in an industrial park about a mile from Hernandez’s home.
Police say Hernandez has not been cooperative in the investigation according to USA Today Sports:
ABC News has reported that persons with knowledge of the investigation have said Hernandez destroyed his cell phone and surveillance videos from the cameras at his home, and that his home was cleaned hours after police believe Odin was killed.
Llody’s family says he had some connection with Hernandez, though they wouldn’t clarify and The Boston Globe reported that police have surveillance videos that show Hernandez with Lloyd on the morning police say Lloyd was killed.
This is just getting worse for Hernandez who has already been named in another lawsuit from 30 year-old Alexander Bradley. Bradley claims Hernandez shot him in the face after an argument in a club. His lawsuit seeks at least $100,000 in damages.
Between this and the murder investigation it will interesting to see how the Patriots organization respond. They are not tolerant of these types of distractions, nor should they.
For Hernandez the tide has turned. His personal freedom is more important than an upcoming NFL season.
