DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — After two amazing practice sessions, Danica Patrick is a good pick to win the pole for the Daytona 500.
FYI: The “pole” is the front row position in the race.
Patrick had the fastest lap in practice session solely for winning the pole at Daytona 500. She hit 196.2 mph around the Daytona International Motor Speedway in her second practice session.
”Everything that we do is to make sure that we do whatever we can to be on the pole,” Patrick said. ”That is what we all are shooting for.”
She’s well on her way! Patrick is excited and thinks getting the front row spot would be an accomplishment for the Stewart-Haas racing team:
”I think it would be really nice for all of us to know we were in the race,” she said. ”It’s nice to know as a team, but it’s also nice to know for your (sponsors) like GoDaddy and all the other people that are involved in the car. That is who really pays for you to be out there on the track.”
The pole position spots will be set on Sunday with the rest of the qualifying positions determined on Thursday.
Go Danica! Go!!!
