The world-famed Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band is the focus of the docudrama “The Battle” which returns for a second season on ESPNU highlighting the discipline, training, heart and soul of this world renown band.

Presented by AT&T, the 30 minute the series follows the band as they prepare for their epic battle against Southern University at the Bayou Classic. It not only focues on the band, but on the training and practice of the  fabulous Orchesis dancers led by Alvin Ailey trained dancer Diane Moroney.

If you’ve EVER been to an HBCU football game you know that half-time is “show time” and the small band battles throughout the game are just the lead-up to the halftime show—and halftime is serious.

As an alumna of Grambling State University, I’m excited about this feature and more proud of our band’s resume which includes Presidential inaugurations, Super Bowls, commercials and more!

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
