Ever since Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy was arrested on charges of assault and communicating threats to his girlfriend, Nicole Holder more and more details about the incident are coming forward. According to Holder, she was thrown onto a sofa covered with firearms after an argument that started because of her past relationship with rapper, Nelly.
According to the Charlotte Observer from Holder’s protective order she says:
“that Hardy was angry with her because of a short-lived relationship with the rapper Nelly, who is a part-owner of the Charlotte Bobcats. She stated in the court documents that she and Hardy had been trying to work things out and that she and Hardy were in bed together early Tuesday morning when Hardy ‘just snapped.'”
Some other interesting things to know about this case is that both Hardy and Holder were intoxicated , and on Thursday a judge dismissed a temporary restraining order against Hardy because Holder failed to appear. Hardy claims that he’s innocent saying Holder was the aggressor. He even has a call to 911 claiming that Holder was striking him with her shoe and had previously hit him in the face twice.
However, a later call from a downstairs neighbor says that Hardy was “beating (Holder’s) ass.” Holder has to surrender all his firearms and weapons and is set to meet with the Panthers next week.
Usually with these types of cases, the athlete is the assumed aggressor. However, recent cases involving 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and former NFL player Keyshawn Johnson should make us pause and withhold judgment. Sometimes things aren’t what they seem.
Sidenote: is it just me or is Nelly’s name always tied to some pro-athlete’s girlfriend?
