In preparation and in celebration of 17 years of marriage, jersey girl Holly Robinson Peete appeared on the Wendy Williams show to serenade her husband Rodney Peete with a love song. Later on that night–around midnight, they renewed their vows on top of the Empire State building in a beautiful star-studded event organized by wedding planner extraordinare Colin Cowie.
They were introduced to each other by a mutual friend who thought they’d make a nice couple. The rest is history.
Rodney and Holly have three children, twins Ryan and Rodney Jr. and son, Robinson. They often refer to their family as “Team Peete” and are involved in many charitable causes including bringing awareness to Parkinsons disease and Autism from which Holly’s father and her son Rodney Jr., respectively, have been affected.
In this day and age when the “friends with benefits” and “I just wanna have sex with you” philosophy is celebrated, and when so many celebrity couple’s marriages don’t last long enough to let water boil, it’s nice to see a couple who honors and celebrates commitment.
Every now and then we need to be reminded that a real relationship takes work, that not all men are sex-crazed narcissists, that fidelity and monogamy arean’t passing fancies–and, ultimately real love is worth it.
Rodney and Holly, we appreciate the example.
