After a couple of days of mulling over his options of Greg McElroy and Tim Tebow, NY Jets coach Rex Ryan finally made a decision: Mark Sanchez will be the starting quarterback.
And he seems to feel good about his decision.
”It’s really a decision I feel great about,” Ryan said.”When I looked at everything, the biggest thing I kept coming back to is, who gives us the best opportunity to win?” Ryan said. ”When I kept coming back to that, I believe the correct answer was Mark Sanchez.”
I’m not sure if this was the best decision for the team, but it certainly goes a long way to helping Sanchez whose confidence was no doubt, shaken after getting benched last week during the game against Arizona. Greg McElroy was sent in (Tebow was probably on the sideline praying) and seemed to rally the team. McElroy was 5 of 7 for 29 yards and the team’s only score, while Sanchez was 10 of 21 for 97 and three interceptions,
This Sunday will be critical for both Sanchez and Rex Ryan. Sanchez has alot to prove. He has to prove doubters wrong at the same time proving Ryan right.
Let’s hope Tebow is still praying.
