It’s been exactly 222 days since college basketball guard Kevin Ware suffered a compound fracture during the 2013 NCAA tournament which took him out of the game for the rest of the tournament, and now Ware has returned better than ever!
The Louisville Cardinals would go on to win the NCAA basketball championship with Ware supporting on the sidelines. He recovered in the off season and was expected to return to play this season. Last night he returned in an exhibition game against Pikeville looking as good as he did when he left. He had six points, four rebounds and zero injuries.
He was well received with a standing ovation and thunderous applause, but Ware doesn’t want special treatment.
“I want to be treated like a regular basketball player,” Ware said after the game, according to the Courier-Journal. “That’s what I came to Louisville for. That’s all I really want.”
Humility. Now, that’s nice to see.
