Kobe Bryant Wants Final Word On Dwight Howard’s Future in LA
While Kobe Bryant is the front man on the court for the Lakers, I didn’t know he is making personal changes as well.
During a sit down interview with ESPNLosAngeles.com, Bryant discussed a number of things like MJ, former coach Phil Jackson, his return next season and shockingly Dwight Howard.
“For me, you kind of let him do his due diligence and then move in and talk to him and figure out if this is a place he wants to be,” Bryant told McMenamin of ESPNLosAngeles.com . “We all want him here. But then that’s when the selling begins [after Howard is courted by other teams]. You don’t start the selling process right before he goes and does all this stuff. You want to get the last word. You want to have the final word and the closing argument. I’ll give him a little opening statement, but then I have to make sure I have the final word.”
While Bryant did talk about the other teams interested in Howard, like the Hawks, Mavs and even the Rockets, he believes that the Lakers will be able to offer him the maximum amount on his contact and the ability to continue to play with him, should make him want to stay in LA..
While Howard is a decent player, his showing last season is something that needs to be worked on. Please understand that the name of Dwight Howard may draw fans, unfortunately he is not drawing wins, which in my book does not equal the need for a high pay check.
