Racism is alive and well in professional sports. That’s not surprising. What is surprising (sort of) is when an owner of a team makes racist comments targeting the race of people that dominates his team. Apparently L.A.Clippers owner Donald Sterling was caught saying he doesn’t want his girlfriend V. Stiviano  taking pictures with black people or bringing them to games, including Magic Johnson. According to TMZ.com this was caught on tape:

It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people. Do you have to?” (3:30)

— “You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want.  The little I ask you is not to promote it on that … and not to bring them to my games.” (5:15)

— “I’m just saying, in your lousy f******* Instagrams, you don’t have to have yourself with, walking with black people.” (7:45)

— “…Don’t put him [Magic] on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me.  And don’t bring him to my games.” (9:13)

So OK. He’s an idiot. He’s a racist. This actually, is not surprising. He has a history of this foolishness. The question is, what will the players do? What will the NBA Player’s Association do and how will the new NBA Commissioner respond.

I can tell you that there’s absolutely NO WAY I’d ever go support, attend a game or give any kind of support to this team as long as this man is the owner. If I were a player, I’d show up for the game, and walk off at the tip-off.

But that’s just me.

What do you think?
