Lifetime Network Casting For Movie about Olympic Gymnast Gabby Douglas

We all loved Gabby Douglas during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, now Lifetime is giving us an opportunity to love the biopic the network is putting together about the life of the young gymnast. Deadline.com reports that actresses Imani Hakim and Sydney Mikayla have been cast to portray Douglas in her early and teen years. Veteran actresses Regina King and S. Epatha Merkeson will play Gabby’s mother and grandmother.

During the 2012 Games, Gabby became the first African-American gymnast to capture the individual all-around gold medal and the first American to take gold in both the individual and team competitions. During and post the Olympic Games we got a small opportunity to look inside the life and back story of Douglas, through this network movie we should really get a better understand of where her drive and motivation come from.
