LPGA Tour winner Colleen Walker dies

She won the LPGA Championship nine times during her 23-year career, and yesterday Colleen Walker succumbed to her second bout of cancer at the age of 56. According to SI.com Walker played in the LPGA Tour from 1982 to 2004 with a career-high three victories in 1992. she won her only major title in 1997 in the du Maurier Classic in Canada. She was inducted into the Florida State University Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. Walker was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2003, but was able to return to the tour that September. Late last year, however, cancer resurfaced in her hips and pelvis and spread throughout her body. She is survived by her husband Ron Bakich and 16-year-old son Tyler Walker Bakich.
