Now I love RGIII, but I don’t think I would buy his sweaty shoes for $15K, would you? Well, a man in Texas did! In fact, he paid $15K for them!

Last season in a game against the Atlanta Falcons, Robert Griffin, III, (RGIII) wore a pair of pink sneakers in honor of the league’s campaign for breast cancer awareness. Well, they were the big hit at a recent American Cancer Society charity luncheon in honor of Tanya Snyder, wife of Redskins owner Dan Snyder. As a part of the auction they sold for $15,000!

According to the Washington Post:

The man willing to write that check was Gerald Haddock, a real estate investor from Fort Worth, Texas.

“My family loves the Snyders,” he explained to me. “We love doing something for the organization. It’s not about the shoes, but it is about honoring them and the organization. And Robert Griffin. Robert Griffin means as much to us in Texas and to the people who supported him at Baylor, as he does to the family of Washington. And so it’s really a combination of all those things.”

Haddock says he’ll keep the shoes in his office which has a wall dedicated to RGIII. He also has other RGIII memorabilia.

So, while I wouldn’t buy the shoes just to have them, if/when it’s for charity, it seems to make sense.

What do you think?
