Note to parents: If you’re holding a glass of beer or other alcoholic beverage, don’t let your underage child hold it if you stop to take a picture–or anything else for that matter. Just ask Arizona Cardinals season ticket holder John Coulter.
Apparently right after the start of the pre-season NFL game between the Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys, Coulter wanted to take a picture and asked his 15 year-old son to hold his beer. Moments later, two undercover police officers approached him telling him that what he did was illegal. I’m sure words were exchanged because soon after Coulter was being escorted out of the stadium.
When asked about the incident officials said:
“Providing alcohol to an underage person or an underage person in possession of alcohol is a Class 1 misdemeanor.” said Sgt. Wesley Kuhl of the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control. “The consequences could be up to, and this is a maximum, of two years in jail, $2,500 fine and three years probation.”
While he may have technically violated the law, do you think officers were being over zealous, or should Coulter count his blessings he wasn’t arrested?
What do you think?
