Mandela’s Daughter Caught Up In Mayweather-Pacquiao Boxing Mess
Zindzi Mandela, the daughter of Nelson Mandela has been ordered to pay a boxing promoter $7.5 million because she failed to put together what could have been a blockbuster fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
The lawsuit started when Mandela told boxing promoter Duane Moody that she was going to put on the mega-fight between Pacquiao –Mayweather in South Africa to celebrate her father’s 93rd birthday in November 2011.
It’s being said that plans fail through because Mandela couldn’t raise the amount of money needed to make the fight happened. When Moody filed the lawsuit against Mandela she never contacted his attorneys or answered the court, which led a judge to rule in Moody’s favor and awarding him $7.5 million. Now that a ruling has been made Mandela’s attorneys are challenging the judgment because she claims she was never contacted in Africa about the matter.
Plans for a showdown in May have been put in jeopardy as Mayweather prepares to serve a 90 day prison sentence in Las Vegas for attacking an ex-girlfriend.
