Miami Dolphins Release Chad Johnson After Domestic Violence Arrest
In 24 hours, the world of NFL veteran wide receiver Chad Johnson has come to a halt.
Late tonight the Miami Dolphins have confirmed that they have released Johnson after being arrested for allegedly head-butting his wife, Basketball Wives reality star Evelyn Lozada during an argument.
Saturday night Lozada and Johnson had an argument when she found a receipt for condoms in his black “smart car.”
According to ESPN.com, if convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence charge, Johnson would face a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. He could also receive community service, probation or be ordered to take anger-management classes.
Two days ago Johnson was on the top of the depth chart and was looking for a huge comeback season with the Dolphins.
Currently NFL players such as Eli Manning, along with players from the NBA and MLB have a PSA running about the stance against violence toward women featuring President Barak Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. The PSA was released in support of Biden’s 1 is 2 Many campaign, which uses technology to raise awareness and help end dating violence and sexual assault among teens and young adults. I knew with such a strong message that the league was supporting the PSAs playing the incident with Johnson was not going to be swept under the rug.
Who’s to say this was the last straw for the 34-year-old receiver, but it definitely adds another mark on the record.
