Milka-what!? For Advertisers Super Bowl XLVI Doesn’t Come Cheap
With football being America’s favorite sport, there’s no surprise that the Super Bowl is the most watch television event. Of course the main event is the game, and this year’s rematch of Super Bowl XVII between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots is sure to again, make history in terms of viewership.
But it isn’t the game that gets all the hype.
One of the best parts of the game is the commercials! Yep, each year companies get a chance to launch new commercials and the challenge is on the be the most creative, the most entertaining, the most engaging and hopefully the most talked about commercial. With the largest television viewing audience in history companies are under pressure to deliver, and it doesn’t come cheap.

- Top 30-second spots are going for $3.5 million in 2012
- Over 111 million viewers watched the 2011 Super Bowl on Fox.
- 2011’s big game featured more auto manufacturer ads than any Super Bowl in history.
- Super Bowl viewers have witnessed 425 minutes of advertising from 2001-2010.
