My mama always told me that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Recently a man by the name of George French Jones approached NFL Hall of Famer, Warren Moon and asked him if he would like to participate in a business investment. Now the investment wasn’t your average club or restaurant. Jones wanted Moon to invest money to gain a five-percent interest in the Miami Heat–yes, the defending NBA Champions Miami Heat.
After speaking with his agent and having a conversation with Jones, Moon decided that the investment was something that he wanted to move forward with. As a show of good faith and a down payment for the investment, Moon wired $200,000 to Jones who was also supposed to send Moon four floor seats to an upcoming Heat game.
Once Moon sent the money, Jones didn’t send the tickets and only a short time after that Jones disappeared all together. To this day Jones has still not resurfaced, but Moon has filed a lawsuit against Jones, plus contacted the FBI and the NBA. It’s also being said that a former New England Patriots players was also approached by the same man but it is unclear if he gave Jones any money.
