Note to Aldon Smith: Making a bomb-threat while in the airport WILL get you arrested
It’s easy to get frustrated at the airport. People move slow. The security checkpoints can often be cumbersome, but it’s a necessary part of our flying experience. Sure, it can be annoying, but your best bet is to cooperate—NOT get mad and threaten that you have a bomb, and then get arrested.–ike Aldon Smith.
The San Francisco 49ers linebacker was arrested on Sunday and charged with making a false report of a bomb threat during an incident at the Los Angeles International Airport. According to Sgt. Karla Ortiz, Smith was selected for additional screening and at that time became “belligerent and uncooperative with the process and with the TSA agent, making a comment indicating that he was in possession of a bomb before proceeding towards the gate area.”
San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke released a statement:
“We are disappointed to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith,” Baalke said in the statement. “As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment.”
This is not a good look for Smith. If you recall, in September 2013 he was arrested on suspicion of DUI and marijuana possession. He was also charged with three weapons felonies stemming from a party he had in 2012. Shortly after the incident in 2013, he took a leave of absence and sought substance abuse treatment.
It seems he may need some anger management classes, too.
