(AP)  ~ Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy has been named the national coach of the year by the Football Writers Association of America.

And what better honor to give the top coach in college football than the Eddie Robinson award?!!

Gundy led the third-ranked Cowboys to an 11-1 regular season, their first Big 12 championship and their first BCS bowl berth. They will face No. 4 Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2. He will be honored in New Orleans on January 8th in a ceremony where he’ll be presented with the Eddie Robinson bust.

As a Grambling State University alum, this award for any collegiate football coach is an award rooted in the legacy of THE best coach in college football history–Eddie Robinson.

Congratulations to Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State.
