Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn suffers major crash, out rest of season

Olympic gold medal skier Lindsey Vonn was airlifted to a hospital Tuesday after tearing knee ligaments and breaking a bone in her leg in a high speed crash at the world championships. According to SI.com Vonn lost her balance when landing a jump on a slope. She landed on her back and crashed into a gate.  Vonn received medical treatment on the slope for 12 minutes before being airlifted. She left the hospital in Austria Tuesday afternoon and will have surgery later at another hospital.

Team physician William Sterett was with Vonn but declined to offer any more information when contacted by The Associated Press. Vonn is expected to be out the remainder of the season with a hopeful return for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. This is a very sad moment for Lindsey Vonn and the U.S. team. She has suffered with injuries in the past six world championship competitions, recently suffering from an intestinal infection that had her in the hospital for two days in November.  I hope Vonn fully recovers. She is fiercely competitive and I'm sure she's been mentally impacted by yet, another injury.  I guess that means more time with Tiger. Your Jersey Girlfriend, ~Angela Davis   .
