One and Done for Venus Williams at Wimbledon

I am so hurt right now! Only a couple of hours after Wimbledon kicked-off, five-time champion Venus Williams loses in the opening round to Elena Vesnina of Russia, for the first time since 1997. This was Venus’ 16th straight appearance at Wimbledon and she had not lost in the first round since her debut in 1996. I know there was so much promise for Venus going into this match, but unfortunately she was unable to hold on to it. "I come into tournaments with a positive attitude," Williams said. "I don't really feel like talking about my health now. It is what it is. I'm just a couple of months into getting back on tour. Life is challenging but I'm always up for a challenge." Hopefully we’ll see more positive results from her sister Serena, who just last week said that she and her sister were here to stay. Your Jersey Girlfriend, Marcelle English
