Oscar Pistorius says he didn’t “consciously” pull the trigger

This story gets better and better. Oscar Pistorius continues to try to make senseless of the senseless murder of his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp now saying that he didn't "consciously" pull the trigger. He was being questioned by his defense attorney Barry Roux to explain why he called the shooting an "accident" - (from CNN.com):
"I mean the situation, and the situation as a whole, it wasn't meant to be," Pistorius said.   The double amputee said he was terrified when he heard the sound of the toilet door opening.
"I didn't think about pulling the trigger. As soon as I heard the noise, before I could think, I pulled the trigger," he said.
So, while this may be true, the part that still doesn't make sense is why Pistorius never called out for his girlfriend, or why, if she was being shot, he never heard her screams. Pistorius has been distraught over the shooting vomiting and crying uncontrollably throughout the trial and during his cross examination.
"I blame myself for taking Reeva's life."   He became emotional as he described finding his girlfriend slumped over by a toilet after shooting her through a closed bathroom door.   "I was saying, 'Baby hold on. Jesus, please help me,' " he said Tuesday.
This is such a sad case, especially given this took place on Valentine's Day. While some say Pistorius went into a violent rage about an argument, Pistorius and his team say that's not true and used a card Steenkamp had given him that day as proof their relationship was on solid ground. Pistorius read the card outloud:
"Roses are red, violets are blue," he read, his voice cracking. "I think today is a good day to tell you that I love you."
