This murder investigation is a bit strange, and the tie-in to New England Patriots’ tight end Aaron Hernandez leaves more questions than answers.
According to WBZ-TV a law enforcement source says that Hernandez has not been ruled out as a suspect in the murder investigation of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd. Lloyd was found dead about a mile from Hernandez’s home. Hernandez’s connection to the case is that a vehicle that was rented in his name is a part of the evidence. ABC news reported that Hernandez was initially uncooperative.
Police searched Hernandez’s home on Tuesday, leaving with a box, and then again on Wednesday. His attorney confirmed the search, but added no additional comments about the investigation:
It has been widely reported in the media that the state police have searched the home of our client, Aaron Hernandez, as part of an ongoing investigation. Out of respect for that process, neither we nor Aaron will have any comment about the substance of that investigation until it has come to a conclusion.
Police say Hernandez was at a bar with Lloyd and three other men and all four left the bar, but only three returned to Hernandez’s home. Police say a text on Lloyd’s phone confirms this story.
At this point there are no real conclusions that can be made. It’s too early in the investigation to decide if Hernandez is guilty of anything. What we do know is that this is a distraction Hernandez doesn’t need it and the Patriots won’t like it.
I hope this ends well for Hernandez. He’s too cute not to be seen on Sundays!
