R&B icon Gladys Knight set to sing National Anthem at Super Bowl LIII

Jersey Girl Sports fam, the Super Bowl excitement is ramping up and Atlanta is still getting prepared. The big game is still securing big names, and the latest is an Atlanta staple. Famed R&B diva Gladys Knight has been tapped to sing the National Anthem.
Knight, known as the Empress of Soul, was born and raised in Atlanta. She is a seven-time Grammy winner and is best-known for her No. 1 singles “Midnight Train to Georgia” and “That’s What Friends Are For.”
Having Atlanta talent open the big game just seems fitting and proper, and with some controversy about the half-time show not being as “ATL” as it shout, things seem to be moving in the right direction.
