"I mean, I don't love tennis today, but I'm here, and I can't live without it ... so I'm still here and I don't want to go anywhere any time soon," Williams said after her first-round win at the Brisbane International, according to TennisNow.com.
"It's not that I've fallen out of love; I've actually never liked sports, and I never understood how I became an athlete," she said, according to the website. "I don't like working out; I don't like anything that has to do with working physically."
So WHY IS she still playing? Is it for money? Fame? Recognition? Future happiness?
My answer is 'E'-- All of the above.
I think Serena may be telling the truth in her statement but she understands that she's not in a position to leave the sport and be as successful as she's bee in tennis--at least not right now.
She not really good at anything else--just yet. Her clothing/apparel/accessories line is marginal--at best, and her acting skills are uhhh...hmmm--well....kind-of non-existent.
She can't really be a sports commentator and we already know what she sounds like when she tries to sing.
But there is some good news.
This is America! The land of the free and home of the brave. This is the country where ordinary no-name housewives can become household names overnight--where people with absolutely NO talent, no skills or social graces can parlay ignorance and stupidity into millions of dollars.
If THOSE people can do that, then certainly, Serena who's obviously athletically inclined (when she puts her mind to it), business savvy, beautiful and mature can be a huge success in the next phase of her life. Besides, she's got plenty of time to learn something new.
Serena we don't know what you will do after tennis. In the meantime, we'll enjoy you on the court.
