Steven Jackson gets 3-year deal with the Falcons
First tight-end Tony Gonzalez announced he’s staying with the Atlanta Falcons, then the Falcons make another move and acquire Steven Jackson.
Jackson agreed to a 3-year deal worth $12 million, and Jackson was all too happy tweeting his excitement:
To the entire ST. LOUIS RAMS organization, THANK YOU for believing in me & allowing me to be an integral part of this team for so many years 10:10 PM – 14 Mar 13
To the AMAZING Atlanta Falcons Owner, GM & Management team, I SINCERELY THANK EACH OF YOU for making this happen. I EAGERLY anticipate 2013! 10:03 PM – 14 Mar 13
After their heartbreaking NFC Championship loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Falcons seem to be trying to pack in their offensive strength.
“I think this is a very big signing for us,” Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff told the Associated Press. “It continues to bolster our offensive firepower.”
Some football analysts argue that while Jackson is a good addition, the Falcons’ troubles lie in their defense and not in their offense. A seemingly inability to stop the pass-rush along with a weak secondary may haunt the Falcons, but they still have time.
And alot of work to do if they plan on making it to the Super Bowl.
