THE shining moment at the ESPY’s was Stuart Scott. The long-time sports analyst has had a long battle with cancer and still stands strong. When he was honored with the Jimmy V award fans got to see rare moments in Scott’s life, his daily battle with the disease and his courage and strength in fighting it. When he graced the stage the Nokia theater, we knew something great was going to happen, we just didn’t realize how much we’d be changed by it:

This was more than an acceptance speech. This was a critical message to all of us. It was a call to action to recognize what’s really important in life and refocus on the things that matter.

Stuart Scott’s speech was amazing. Moving. Inspirational. The great thing is that this speech was about him. How he felt. He made us feel.

He reminded us what life is really all about.

“When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer,” Scott told the audience. “You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live.”
