T.O. Has Made His Bed…Now Take a Nap

Football Player, NFL, T.O.In a comment last week T.O. said, "People think that they have that perception about me. Of course. Any receiver ... what receiver that's out there that's had great stats, great careers, that didn't want the ball? I'm no different. "But of course -- I mean, you've got Brady there. You've got the great mind, coach (Bill) Belichick. "I'm like LeBron (James). I can go there and take less of a role, take less money and put everything aside and make it work." At the age of 36, which is no spring chicken, Owens is approaching his 15th year in the league, but with no home. But according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, Owens will have a deal in the next couple of weeks because there are about five teams on his radar interested in Owens and his skills. Now I give Drew an “A” for effort, but do you seriously believe that there are five teams that are taking a real hard look at T.O. – I Doubt It! Now don’t get me wrong, I believe that T.O. is a good wide receiver, he numbers have slipped over the last couple of years. What I also know is that at the end of the day, T.O. is looking for a job, and as a part of the job search, you must present your resume to prospective employers.  Now on Owens resume it reads that he has a 1,006 career receptions, accumulated 14,951 yards, and 144 career touchdowns. Now just having that type of information, this could possibly be the veteran that you want on your team to help along rookie receivers like Dez Bryant or Demaryius Thomas. Now let’s take other things into consideration. His consistent bad attitude, his neediness for attention, his locker-room antics and fights, his lack of respect for authority, his overdose of hydrocodone, his constant negative displays towards other teammates, do I really need to go on. Now with all that being said, there is no way that type of person is getting hired. As kids when we do something, our parents try to instill in us they we are going to have to suffer the consequences for our bad or wrong actions. Unfortunately, not being able to play in the National Football League is going to be T.O.’s consequence. Over the last couple of weeks I have heard small inklings of humility from Owens saying that he will be willing to play for veteran league minimum which is a little more than $820k. However, still no remorse for your actions over the last 14 years, or even addressing the reason you are in this boat is because of YOU, not because of the media,  whom Owens blamed last week for all of his "perceived character problems". Now there could be five teams out there looking at T.O., but after playing for the 49ers, the Eagles, the Cowboys, and the Bills. After screwing over the Ravens a couple of years back, and Falcons Owner, Arthur Blank, calling Owens ‘a cancer’, and this year some notable teams like the Patriots, the Skins, the Seahawks, the Bengals, and the Chargers all passing on T.O., and then Owens passing on the Chiefs because of his issue with Coach Todd Haley, are there really that many options open, you do the math.  I do believe that Owens will get picked up after training camp starts, after a team’s wide receiver is hurt, or a rookie doesn’t pan-out. T.O. you’ve made your bed now you really might want to get some really nice sheets because it looks like you’re going to be spending a lot of time in it. Or you could always call the Raiders! See Ya Next Time! Marcelle
