Former NFL QB, Rodney Peete, with Angela Davis and Marcelle English of Jersey Girl Sports

Years after coming off the field, former NFL Quarter back and and co-founder of the HollyRod Foundation, Rodney Peete is still setting the example. Today on the National Day of Service to commemorate the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rodney Peete is in Atlanta partnering with Allstate to participate in a special painting and beautification project at Humphries Elementary School as a part of Allstate’s National “Give Back Day” program.
Here’s what Rodney Peete had to say about this great program, service and his take on this past week’s NFL playoff games:
Alexandria Phillips, Allstate’s 2012 Atlanta Give Back Day hero, also participated in the community service initiative. Phillips is a senior at Spelman College, and is one of four Give Back Day Heroes honored across the nation for embodying the principles of Dr. King through year-round commitment to volunteerism, making a positive impact in communities, and for encouraging others to follow her lead.
Meet Alexandria:
Rodney Peete said in his opening remarks to the volunteers, “service is the rent we pay for living” and this day is all about making that payment. Let’s not take the life that we have for granted, Dr. King knew what we needed to do to make it to the mountaintop, let make sure that we keep climbing together.
Your J.G.F.,

Now with anything there are those that are addicted when it comes to the sport of football. Let’s take me for example, I believe I am a man’s dream, I wake-up to the NFL Network, I go to bed to it, but most importantly I also know what I’m talking about, and I talk major shit about my favorite team or player. Then there are those of you who watch the games in passing. You know a couple of terms, you’re up on the basic knowledge, and you do know how to sit down and enjoy a good game. Then there are those of you have no idea what the hell is going on. You think that the’ man in motion’ is a term coined from the hit show Cops, referring to a criminal on the run, but you do take a small interest in the game for some reason or another.  (more…)
