U.S. soccer team beats Panama 2-0 and qualifies for World Cup
The U.S. soccer team is making their way to the World Cup beating Panama last night 2-0 and Jozy Altidore led the way.
He scored in the first half and Eddie Johnson scored in the 53rd minute of the game. Beating Panama gave the U.S. team a first place position in it’s World Cup qualifying position.
“Right now we’re having fun. But most importantly we’re on the same page and have one common goal which is qualifying for the World Cup,” Johnson said. “We’ve got one more game to put ourselves in a good position to make that happen.”
And they can do it! The U.S. is in a qualifying group with Mexico and Costa Rica, now with a two-point lead over both in a 10-game final round of the North and Central American and Caribbean region.
They play Honduras next Tuesday night in Sandy, Utah.
