The foul committed by the usually professional Rajon Rondo in the last seconds of the Heat’s 120-107 victory over the Boston Celtics made us all gasp. He grabbed Dwayne Wade’s neck and Wade had to maintain self control from retaliating–watch:
Jersey Girl Sports fam, it’s no secret that there’s no love lost between these two teams, so the aggressive style of play was no surprise. However, we didn’t really expect this. It seems Rondo was upset about some previous calls and took it out on Wade. Wade almost threw the ball at Rondo, but he said he stopped because of his children. According to ESPN.com he stated:
“I got my kids watching so I stopped myself but it was a punk play by him,” said Wade, who had a team-best 29 points in the win. He clotheslined me. I’m here to play basketball, man,” Wade said. “If you want to do something else, then go do something else. Boxing, this is not it. I was glad I was able to stop myself in that very moment and move on from it. We’ll see next time we play.”
And what did Rondo have to say in response? Well, nothing….actually:
“I don’t have any response to that,” Rondo said. “Everybody is entitled to their opinion. He has a voice. There’s nothing else to it.”
Well, not so fast Rajon. You’ll meet again on January 27th in Boston, so we’ll see.
