Winter Olympics Continue As Athlete Shawn White Withdraws From Event, Saying ‘It’s Too Risky’

The problems for the Winter Olympics in Sochi continue to mount. First  the roads weren't complete, then as journalist check in the hotels and facilities aren't complete, now athletes are withdrawing from certain events claiming they are not safe enough. On Tuesday, Olympic Gold Medelist Shaun White pulled out of the Olympic slopestyle contest to focus solely on winning a third straight gold medal on the halfpipe. In the statement, he says "the potential risk of injury is a bit too much for me to gamble my other Olympic goals on." The writing was on the wall regarding this event when White  jammed his left wrist during slopestyle practice Tuesday and was among the several riders complaining about the unsafe conditions of the course. What is really going on in Sochi? Roads not complete, hotels still being built, security is at an all time high. The Russian Olympic delegation has got to be thinking to themselves what is going on here, how did we let this happen. While many Americans watch the Summer Olympics, I doubt ratings will be as high this time around. Your Jersey Girlfriend, Marcelle English
