Woman drives car into church and stabs husband at the altar for worshiping NASCAR
Uhhhh....yeah. This story is a bit crazy to say the least! A Tennessee woman crashed her car into a church and then stabbed her husband at the altar because she said he had been worshiping NASCAR. According to syracuse.com:
Stephanie Faye Hamman, 23, of Church Hill, Tenn., told police that God had told her to drive through the doors of Providence Church on Sunday night and that the devil was in her, the Kingsport, Tenn., Times Newsreported. After the crash, Hamman called her husband, Steven Hamman, who was at the couple's apartment watching a NASCAR race on television. When he arrived at the church and found his wife on the altar, she arose and stabbed him in the chest, Church Hill Police Chief Mark Johnson said in a report.
Hamman's husband, Steven, is in fair condition at a local area hospital. Stephanie Hamman has been charged with attempted first degree murder and felony vandalism. The church received damage to its doors, floors, walls and fountain.
"She stated God had told her that smoking marijuana all day and all night was not good for her, and that she only needed to smoke it at night to help her relax," Johnson said. "Mrs. Hamman further stated that she felt her husband Steven was worshiping the NASCAR race at Bristol, which made her mad, and she began having thoughts that the devil put in her head."
The good news is that no one else was injured and Stephanie Hamman is being held without bail. The community is in shock and the church's pastor, Joel Trigg said there was only one thing to do:
"We just took a moment, joined hands and said a prayer for her, that God would be with her and her husband also," he told WCYB.
